A is for Ashanti, B is for Bantu, C is for Cush!
Afrocentrism is a movement by African and African-American scholars to reclaim Africa and her values. Since the roots of civilization have been found in Africa, it should be the foundation of education. Therefore it is necessary to put Africa at the center of education. Therefore we find it pertinent and necessary to provide students with an Afrocentric, multicultural curriculum. For too long have children (white, black, brown, yellow, and red) learned white-washed history. There needs to be a reformation of the public educational system of the United States to reflect "real" history. It is necessary for students of all backgrounds to learn of the contributions that their ancestors have made to society. Afrocentricism is an idelogical and practical tool for accomplishing this task.

"No Nation, no race can face the future unless it knows what it is capable of. This is the function of history."

A judgment of how much a student has learned is not how well he/she is able to regurgitate information back to the teacher. A true measure of knowledge is how well an individual has learned is to examine how he/she was able to apply and incorporate that which was taught.
Furthermore, learning is not limited to the classroom. As Dewey said, learning takes place everywhere. This on-line experience is evidence of this. We have learned more in preparing this page than we may have learned the entire semester.
